When you’re happy or with friends and someone cracks a joke, you should be able to smile wide and laugh heartily without hesitation. If you don’t like your smile, you might dismiss it as simply a cosmetic issue. But the truth is, insecurities like this can be quality of life issues too. At A Perfect Smile, we want to help you achieve a smile you’re proud to share with the world. And we’re able to do that with dental veneers.
Dental veneers are sort of like artificial fingernails, which you’d reach for if you wanted to change the color or shape of your nails. Similarly, dental veneers allow you to conceal the things you don’t like about your teeth.
When you come to A Perfect Smile for dental veneers, the compassionate professionals in our Falmouth, ME office listen intently to your smile goals. Then, we can help you determine whether dental veneers are right for you and put together a treatment plan.

What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are thin pieces of porcelain or composite material, carefully shaped to look like the fronts of teeth. They’re custom-made to your exact specifications and preferences. That means that if you want a dramatically whiter smile, or if you want to address an oddly shaped tooth, it’s possible with dental veneers. These dental veneers are bonded to your teeth using a special cement and curing light to conceal dental imperfections. This includes:
- Misshapen or worn down teeth
- Discoloration (including intrinsic staining that can’t be removed with teeth whitening treatments)
- Chips and fractures
- Minor teeth alignment issues, including small gaps between teeth
What Types Of Dental Veneers Are Available At A Perfect Smile?
Many people don’t realize that there are different kinds of dental veneers. At A Perfect Smile, we’ve chosen to offer two different types of veneers: ultra-thin ceramic e.max veneers and DURAthin dental veneers.
E.max veneers are made of ceramic or porcelain, which is the material that dental veneers are traditionally made from. Though they are very thin, they’re still thicker than dental veneers made from composite materials. This means that these dental veneers offer full coverage of even more severe dental flaws. But, it also means that they require removal of a small amount of enamel before we place them. Don’t worry, though! There are no nerve endings in enamel, so it’s a comfortable procedure. Plus, we only remove just enough enamel to make room for the veneer. If we didn’t prepare the tooth in this way, the results wouldn’t look natural.
Unlike the e.max dental veneers, our DURAthin veneers can be placed without removal of healthy enamel. This means that the veneers can be placed sooner. It takes less time for you to get your ideal smile!
Why Is A Perfect Smile A Great Place To Get Dental Veneers?
At A Perfect Smile, our goal is to provide you with high-quality results that last for years. Dr. Nelson has been offering excellent cosmetic dental care at A Perfect Smile for nearly two decades. He is constantly striving to improve upon what he does with continuing education courses, and he has undergone additional training in both ultra-thin veneers and porcelain veneers.
Dr. Nelson has also worked hard to provide a physical space you’ll enjoy coming to. He’s by nature a very calming person, and our physical space is reflective of that. We offer comfort amenities you won’t find at other practices, such as paraffin wax treatments, a coffee bar, and freshly baked cookies. In fact, some people say our office lacks that “clinical” feeling many dental offices have.
How Much Will Do Dental Veneers Cost?
This is a tough question to answer. Dental veneers are a versatile tool when it comes to improving your smile. For example, you can choose to place just one dental veneer over a single problem tooth. Or, you can get a dental veneer placed on every tooth that’s visible when you smile for a more consistent and uniform look.
The cost will also depend on what type of dental veneers you choose.
As you can see, a lot of different factors contribute to the cost of treatment. This makes it difficult to provide even a rough estimate. The only way to know for sure is to come in for a consultation with Dr. Nelson. If there are more effective ways to achieve your smile goals, he’ll walk you through those options and answer any questions you have. We want to make sure you have all the information you need to make a decision you feel great about.
